For today's blog, I will be using content learned in class to discuss the history behind the peanut. Today, you may see a peanut as just a nut or something that many people are allergic to. But, this nut actually came from Africa. A popular snack commonly found in movie theaters called Goobers is what I will be using to share today's information. Below you will find an infographic I created to relay the information to you.
My thoughts:
I personally feel that although this information is just about peanuts, it still is important to learn and interesting because I have seen Goobers at the store or the movie theater millions of times, but never thought they had an origin story. This has made me start to think about other popular candies that I know of and wonder if they or the ingredients in them have originated from elsewhere. It also is of importance to me because I enjoy things such as peanut butter, and anything with a peanut flavor including an actual peanut on its own. Discovering this information has made me stop and think about the little things in my life that I may use daily, such as maybe my edge brush, and wonder if me being able to have this incorporated into my daily routine is somehow connected to my roots in the sense of my ancestors also possibly using a brush for their hair. This connection may be a far far reach, but I also noticed that the Goobers are covered in chocolate which is brown, and wondered could that be a subtle symbol of peanuts being abundant and popular with the African slaves. It may be a bit of a crazy reach but it's a connection that I couldn't pass up the chance on sharing.

Your Infograph was definitely a creative way to explain this information to us! Great job! Goober peanuts were always my go-to at movie theaters, so learning the history on the candy is interesting!
